THE STUDIO

You’ll find the Miller Photography Studio in Tulsa, Oklahoma’s downtown Brady Arts District.  It’s just a few blocks from Tulsa’s new acclaimed BOK Arena and from the new Tulsa Driller’s ball park site.

The 8,000 square foot facility has a 40-foot cyclorama, drive-in capability, digital editing suite, and full kitchen with food preparation area.

The studio is also equipped with the “Super Bank,” one of the midwest’s largest banklights. This light is capable of committing up to 15,000 watts of tungsten light or up to 12,000 watt seconds of strobe light. It’s perfect for photographing motorcycles, automobiles, large products, or even large groups of people. The Super Bank can also be taken on location.

We capture images on Canon 1Ds Mark III Cameras, with image sizes up to 18” x 24” at 300 dpi.  These cameras all tether to Apple laptop computers for instant image viewing. All of our cameras, computer and lighting equipment are completely portable for all kinds of location shooting.

Miller also utilizes a Sony HD video camera for high end filming.

ABOUT SCOTT MILLER

Scott MillerFor Scott Miller, the photography spark ignited almost literally. He would follow his Aurora, Illinois fireman father to fires, photograph them, and create dramatic black and white visuals of the scenes.

He was also working as the school sporting events photographer and when he began working for the local Aurora Beacon News, his co-worker, Lyal Lauth, became a mentor and teacher and fueled the photography fire that was already driving Miller.

From there, Miller studied photographer greats like Edward Weston, Diane Arbus, and Richard Avedon while he attended Oklahoma State University and Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara. He returned to Illinois, accepted an internship in Chicago and started freelancing.

Dozens of awards and hundreds of very happy clients later, Miller’s fiery passion continues today not only for photography but also for the environment and all living creatures.

“I love to just drive across country, really looking at people, at animals, at the landscape…and for everything I see, I imagine the photo that expresses my feelings about it.”

Miller loves all outdoor sports, especially those he and his family can enjoy around their lake house…fishing, boating, and hiking.

He is also not-so-surprisingly passionate about his wife Kim, son, daughter, and even the cocker spaniel.

ABOUT JOHN O’CONNOR

John O'ConnorJohn O’Connor was 14, living in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, when his dad handed him a book about photography.

“That started the ball rolling,” he explains.

And O’Connor rolled his senior year of high school right into Tulsa Tech’s photography program. Later, when Tulsa Tech board member Scott Miller advertised for an assistant, O’Connor applied and a strong team was born. That was August of 1997.

He loves the world of commercial photography. “It’s always changing…with every different product or subject to shoot, there’s a new puzzle to solve, a different lighting solution come up with.”

In addition to his photography, O’Connor is an avid mountain/road cyclist and soccer player.  He’s married to Julie, and their household includes a dog and cat…and O’Connor’s 80 orchids.
